I offer appointments online via Zoom. In addition to CBT, I am trained in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT Therapy), Compassion Focussed Therapy and EMDR.

Why pick me as your therapist? Because I know that life isn't a fairytaleIt comes with challenges, obstacles and uncertainty. I'm here to help you learn how to navigate through these. By having therapy with me, you will gain the knowledge and tools that you need to live the best life you can, even when faced with difficult circumstances. You will learn not only how to manage your current difficulties, but also how to navigate any future difficulties that life brings. I hope that by the end of your sessions, you have learned enough tools and techniques that allow you to act as your own therapist.

What can I help with?

I am here to help you manage any difficulties that you are encountering in life. There does not have to be a big life event or a specific set of symptoms for you to come and see me.

I can help you learn how to keep moving forward when life feels like a struggle. Together, we will find ways for you to navigate through life’s ups and downs. Not only do I aim to help you with your current difficulties, but by the end of your therapy, you will have a wealth of knowledge and skills to help you with future challenges that happen in your life.

I am based in in York and my sessions are offered via online platforms, so you can access the therapy from wherever you. I have been offering telephone therapy for over 10 years and video therapy for almost 3 years and the results achieved are just as successful as when I have seen people in person.

I have over 11 years of experience in supporting people through their difficulties and I am accredited by the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). If you want to know more about the specific areas I have experience working in, please see here

I also offer specialised support to Ex-Muslims and people who have left high-controlling Religions, you can find out more about this on my After Faith Website by clicking here.

Therapy with me

What will you get from me?

What you will get is someone who will work with you to overcome the obstacles that you have control over, whilst showing you that it is still possible to live a meaningful life when things don’t always turn out how you hoped. We might not be able to thrive all the time, but what we can do is get the confidence to know we can survive whatever life throws at us.

Styles of Therapy and Counselling

What will you not get from me?

Some types of Counselling might have a more passive approach, you might have experienced this in the past where you talk and talk, with little input from your counsellor. This is not what you will experience with me as your therapist. We will work together. I am there to listen to you and guide you towards the steps that will help you make necessary changes. At times this will be gentle, and at times I might be more direct, if this is what you need. I believe that if you don’t feel challenged during any of your time in therapy, it probably isn’t going to help you in the long-term, because no positive change comes from staying in our comfort zone.

If you are looking for a therapist who suggests manifesting your future or using ‘positive thinking’ to help you overcome your difficulties, then I am not the right person for you. I believe that for any of us to overcome challenging times, we need to be willing to put in real work. I will teach you how to do this, but the rest is up to you.
The question is, are you ready?

Testimonials

Client

Aisha helped me navigate some of the most difficult periods of my life, and I am thankful for her support. When I first started looking for a therapist, I noticed that there are hardly any licensed therapists who understand the cultural and religious issues that South Asians face. I tried with other therapists before, but they struggled to understand what I was really going through. Then I was referred to Aisha by someone who is going through something similar, and I've never looked back. Thank you so much, Aisha. You helped me a lot, and I am certain you will be able to help others there - there's definitely a lot of people out there who need your services.
